Should have done this in the first place, going to my own domain…

Yeah, not sure what I was thinking when I started a hosted blog. Too many limitation with plugins, coding and themes for my taste. So I bought my own domain that is much more fitting: and I am just waiting on the server FTP info then I’ll install wordpress, import my blog posts and be good to go!

So, to make the transition easier you should subscribe to my feed so I can make sure the migration is flawless for you. Unfortunately I can’t redirect you from my blog (wordpress doesn’t let you) so that will be annoying for you, sorry I was such a dumb ass making a wordpress hosted blog. Trust me subscribe to my feed, it will be seamless!

Oh, once you are self hosted you can never go back my friends! REMEMBER THIS!

  1. So, since I’m already subscribed I shouldn’t notice a difference?

  2. I’m already subscribed too. Shouldn’t I have to update my subscription or something though? I don’t know how that all works.

  3. I’m going to do the same thing..soon.
I went to the new link but can’t read the posts..I shouldn’t be able to should I .

Geeze I have alot of reading to catch up on.

  4. MP-
Just click the link of the post you want to read, it will load the entire post at that time.

You shouldn’t have to change anything if I just switch out my feed URL… I guess it would depend on what feed reader you use. Are you seeing today new post about BridezillaBlondie?

  5. I did the same thing. I moved from Blogger to WordPress. And hated the limitations on a wordpress hosted site. So I moved to a self-hosted site and yep….will never ever go back.

  6. Congratulations on taking the leap πŸ™‚ Can’t wait to see the new place.

  7. Congratulations! I wish I knew about this stuff to be able to do this. Did you do this yourself or did you get someone to help you?

  8. You actually can re-direct the blog to your new site. I did it.

If you Google it, you’ll find the info. WordPress won’t give it to you readily, but you can do it. Basically you change your DNS on your new domain back to, forward it, and then once it is all forwarded, change the DNS back.

That may make no sense, but if I can do it, anyone can…

  9. Hey Hey Hey… good luck on the move. I’ve only been on my site for a month. Before that I was on Blogger. I often wonder why I didn’t start out self-hosting, but you just never know if you’re going to be serious about something until you do it for a while (3 months…LOL).

Anyways… what’s one more subscription for me, right? Good luck! I’ll see ya around!

  10. Damn, I should have done that! Convinced everyone to subscribe to the feed first!

    You are awesome.

Okay, okay, I will subscribe. Cause then you will love me right?

  11. Good for you. I am also planning to get my own domain. But since I can be ignorant on this stuffs and I’m very busy as of the moment, that would have to wait.

  12. Lucky you! I’ve been wanting to go self hosted for ages but it is just too much work, well, it’s too technical and I am a dumbass at that sort of stuff!

At least with Blogger I can point to my own domain name and all, but someday I hope to be fully self hosted.

Will subscribe to the feed on my way out! πŸ™‚

  13. I’m totally lame when it comes to all the hosting my own blog thing… Sooooo, I gotta stick with wordpress. Only perk… it doesn’t suck as much as blogger.

  14. I’m wanting to switch to my own domain — sick of WP too — but I have no idea what the first step is. I already bought a name … now what?

I don’t see an email address — would SO LOVE your feedback!! My address is Or, you can find me on my site. If you’re so inclined. πŸ™‚

Thanks for stopping by today — love your blog!

  15. WordPress only works for total dorks like me πŸ™‚
